Dan Zanes, Fiona's Icon

So, it should come as no surprise that my daughter loves music. After all, look at her parents. We are music junkies. I think the hardest part about having a child, at least for us, was giving up live music. On one of Fiona and I's weekly trips to the Brookside Library, we found the Dan Zane's DVD "All Around the Kitchen." We were familiar with him from seeing the "Jump Up" video on Disney from time to time, so we checked it out. My daughter watched it continuously for the week we had it. When I took it back the following Friday, I thought that we should probably purchase this at some point. A couple of days later, Fiona and I went to Border's in search of the DVD, to no avail. We purchased a CD instead. I believe it is called "Catch That Train." Fiona loves the CD even more than the DVD. I did end up getting on to buy.com and purchasing the DVD and another CD a few days later. Now, my life consists of Dan Zanes in the play room, DZ in the car, DZ in the living room, DZ in the kitchen. My daughter wakes up and says "choo choo!?" every morning, even after nap. It goes on alllllll day. I think I listened to the CD three times and watched both the videos and show three times each, as well, on Friday. It is out of control. I do find myself fortunate that it was DZ and friends that she latched on to b/c I am not sure that I could handle any other children's artist that many times a day. Luckily, they rock and play great music. They are the kind of people that I would hang out with.....so hooray for Dan Zanes.

Zoooooooooooooooo

We took Fiona to the Tulsa Zoo a few weekends ago and she, of course, loved it. It was only her third trip to the zoo....Pretty pathetic on my part, but it is half an hour away and we can't ever stay for long, so the pay off isn't always enough to make the trip. One more reason to leave Tulsa. That comment is for you, Scott. =) We had to pull Fi from the petting zoo. That was by far her favorite part. It is much nicer than the OKC petting (if you can consider sticking your hand over a 4'0" chain link fence petting) zoo.

Things are hectic around the Kanaly house. All the usual, work, work, chores and work. I don't want to be an adult anymore, unless I am a retired adult. I need a genie. Does anyone have one they can loan me? Fiona wants to be potty trained. I just can't find time to read the 300 page book that accompanies this phase so I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Kris said the other night "oh, yeah, she's potty trained, but still on the boob." Hey what can I say? I didn't know there was a particular order I had to go in. I do what I can.

I am off for an adult night (or the rest of what is left of it) with my husband. It will more than likely be spent making lists of groceries and things to accomplish this week, though. Like I said, I am done with this adult crap.
